Poland and Ukraine are linked not only by 535 kilometres of a common border but also by a long and sometimes painful common history. In recent years, the two countries have been increasingly connected by the unprecedented economic migration of Ukrainians to Poland, which has largely reshaped the interactions between Poles and Ukrainians.
The opinion-polls based research, conducted by the Representations of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Ukraine and Poland, Foreign Policy Council Ukrainian Prism and the College of Eastern Europe in Wroclaw (New Eastern Europe magazine) revealed that mutual perceptions, stereotyping and associations have been marked by this new migration wave, as well as by the developments in bilateral political relations, the security situation in the region and recent memory wars.
The Representations of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Ukraine and Poland, Foreign Policy Council Ukrainian Prism and the College of Eastern Europe in Wroclaw cordially invite you to the presentation and debate about mutual perceptions of Poles and Ukrainians. On June 11, 2021, at 11.00 Kyiv time (10.00 CET), we are going to present and discuss the results of the social opinion polls, which were conducted in parallel both in Ukraine and Poland in December 2020.
What do Poles and Ukrainians know about each other today? How do they imagine each other and their respective countries? How do they perceive relations between their countries? How exactly do they interact with each other? In which areas do they see opportunities for or limitations of cooperation?
