«The land that tried to ban Santa» is a new Christmas fairy tale from Belarus.
It was inspired by the real events that happened in the country during Christmas 2020, when Santa was officially banned because of his white beard and red coat — a combination of colours now strictly forbidden by the dictator (white-red-white flag was the flag of free Belarus).
In the fairy tale, the people in black hunting for those dressed as Santa come across the real Santa – and they soon find the tables are turned. There is no need for a struggle in the story. All the good needs to do is to shine its light, no matter what. This fairy tale is for anyone who is ready to open their heart to a simple truth: presents are not something you need to deserve — they are there, waiting to be appreciated, if only you take the time to stop and see.
