Online roundtable via Cisco Webex platform
A number of latest developments in the EU-Russia relations clearly shows that there is a need for a profound revision of the bilateral relations in the future. Being postponed until June 2021, the European Council meeting on Russia will be taking place and offering a significant opportunity to review the European policy on Russia. The Czech and Polish diplomacies may support each other in promoting common goals and shared interests in a number of areas in the Eastern neighbourhood, as proved the experience from the last year after the fraudulent presidential elections in Belarus. However, to fully exploit the potential and promote closer cooperation and coordination, a better understanding of each other’s priorities and strategic interests is essential.
The online roundtable should focus on the following questions:
– What are the national interests and priorities as well as strong sides and limitations of the Czech and Polish diplomacies vis-a-vis Russia?
– Where are the common grounds and shared interests where Czechia and Poland can help and support each other to maximise their foreign policy impact and gain additional negotiation power in the EU decision-making process?
– How these may be best reflected in the EU negotiations concerning the revision of the future EU common policy on the Russian Federation beyond June 2021
